450 Thousand Liras of Essential Oil Seized at Dereköy Customs Gate

A large number of essential oils were seized by the Ministry of Commerce Customs Enforcement teams at the Dereköy Customs Gate, which were tried to be brought into the country without declaration. The seized smuggled goods worth 450 thousand Turkish Liras were confiscated by the teams.

According to the statement made by the Ministry, a vehicle that came to the Derekoy Customs Gate to enter Turkey from Bulgaria was sent for x-ray scanning for control purposes after completing the customs and registration procedures. Before the X-ray scan, the driver of the vehicle was asked whether there was any contraband or criminal item in his vehicle, and the driver replied that there was no such item. Subsequently, the vehicle was subjected to a detailed search after the vehicle in question was scanned and it was determined that there were suspicious densities. During the physical control, it was seen that there were parcels under the suitcases belonging to the persons in the vehicle.

In the examination made in the boxes, it was understood that many non-declaration essential oils with different types and aromas, which are known to be used for skin care, perfume and ambient scent, in addition to their therapeutic and relaxing properties. As a result of the measurement and detection studies, 450 essential oils, which were determined to be worth 727 thousand Turkish Liras, were confiscated.
