Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that a total of 217 thousand 246 students studying at pre-school, primary, secondary and high school levels in ten provinces affected by the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş were transferred to other provinces upon their requests.
The Ministry of National Education, which took every precaution to ensure that the students who experienced the earthquake disaster had access to education, carried out the transfer of 217 thousand 246 students who requested transfer due to the earthquake to other provinces.
Making an assessment on the subject, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer drew attention to the fact that students who requested a transfer were transferred to 71 cities outside the earthquake provinces and shared the following information: “Ankara was the province with the highest number of transfers with 29 thousand 738 students. With 20 thousand 149 students in Antalya, 20 thousand 67 in Mersin, 16 thousand 186 in Istanbul and 11 thousand 985 students in Konya, the provinces with the highest number of transfers.
Özer noted that 8 thousand 685 students transferred to İzmir, 7 thousand 312 students to Kayseri, 6 thousand 537 students to Bursa, 6 thousand 133 students to Muğla and 4 thousand 863 students to Aydın due to the earthquake.
Minister Özer said the following regarding the distribution of students transferred from ten provinces that experienced earthquake disaster: We transferred 71 thousand 959 students from Hatay, one of our provinces in the earthquake region, to other provinces. 52 thousand 908 from Kahramanmaraş, 39 thousand 987 from Malatya, 22 thousand 889 from Adıyaman, 14 thousand 719 from Gaziantep, 4 thousand 167 from Osmaniye, 4 thousand 41 from Adana, 3 thousand 152 from Diyarbakır, Şanlıurfa We transferred a total of 3 thousand 80 students, 344 thousand 217 from Istanbul and 246 from Kilis, to other provinces.”
