17 Packages of Illegal Cigarettes Seized in Van

17 thousand 580 packages of smuggled cigarettes were seized in an operation carried out by the Customs Enforcement teams of the Ministry of Commerce in a house and workplace in Van.

According to the statement made by the Ministry, as a result of the intelligence activities carried out by the Van Customs Enforcement Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate teams within the scope of combating smuggling, a market and house belonging to a person were followed up. After the search decision, an operation was carried out on the house and workplace in question, where illegal cigarettes were found to be stored in the studies.

As a result of the searches, a total of 17 thousand 580 packages of illegal cigarettes were seized, which were determined to contain cigarettes without banderol or with fake banderol. It was determined that the seized illegal cigarettes were worth 552 thousand liras.

A suspect was taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation by the Van Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the incident.

As a result of the operation organized by the Customs Enforcement teams, the smuggled cigarettes seized were prevented from being placed on the market underhand. The fight against tobacco and tobacco products smuggling continues with determination throughout the country, especially in the bonded areas.
