The law of the Turkish Archeology and Cultural Heritage Institute, which was established in Gaziantep in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, and the Delegation of the European Union Commission to Turkey, was approved in the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Pursuant to the law, the Turkish Archeology and Cultural Heritage Foundation Law will move to the stage of serving as a foundation with the proposal.
Speaking on the proposal of the law discussed in the parliament, Ali Şahin, the Chief of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and AK Party Gaziantep Deputy, stated that Turkey is located in the center of a valley of civilizations where all ancient and ancient civilizations were born, and said that Anatolia also hosts the richest archaeological deposits in the world.
Underlining that many European countries such as England, Italy, Germany and the Netherlands have established 8 archeology institutes in Turkey so far, Şahin said, “Turkey was too late in this area. If our archeology institute had been established 100 years ago, the richness of Anatolia would not adorn the leading museums of Europe today.”
THE INSTITUTE PROJECT WAS STARTED WITH THE INITIATIVES OF PRESIDENT FATMA ŞAHİN
Expressing that Gaziantep has a great archaeological importance, Şahin said, “It is home to the world's largest mosaic museum. Gaziantep is located in the middle of a huge archaeological oasis such as Göbekli Tepe, Zeugma and Nemrut. The Turkish Archeology and Cultural Heritage Institute project was initiated by our Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin. Today, his discussions on the bill were at the General Assembly of the Assembly.”
Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin, AK Party Gaziantep deputies Nejat Koçer, Mehmet Erdoğan, Mehmet Sait Kirazoğlu, Derya Bakbak and MHP Gaziantep Deputy Muhittin Taşdoğan were also present at the law proposal meeting at the GNAT General Assembly.
The institute, which was established after the restoration of the 162-year-old Kendirli Church in Bey Mahallesi and opened by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is important for regional archeology. The Turkish Archeology and Cultural Heritage Institute, which was established in Gaziantep, which has hosted many civilizations, will shed light on the ancient history of Anatolia.
INSTITUTE EXHIBITION AND ANTEP DISHES AT THE GROUND OF THE TGNA BEFORE THE LAW NEGOTIATIONS
Before the law negotiations, the Turkish Archeology and Cultural Heritage Institute Publications Exhibition was opened in the Hall of Honor of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. The Grand National Assembly of Turkey Administrative Chief and AK Party Gaziantep Deputy Ali Şahin, Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin, deputies and officials from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism attended the opening. In addition, the local delicacies of Gaziantep were served to the guests in the exhibition.
