Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyerwent to the earthquake zone again and visited the coordination center in Hatay. Making an assessment of the situation with the teams affiliated to 16 departments in the disaster area, President Soyer examined the work of the units established in the area. President Soyer thanked the personnel who worked with devotion and said that they will always be with the earthquake victims and will work to heal their wounds.
The first of the coordination centers to be established in Adıyaman, Kahramanmaraş, Osmaniye and Hatay by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which continues its activities in the disaster area with all its units after the earthquake disaster that shook Turkey, started to serve on the EXPO road in Hatay. Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyer, came to Hatay Coordination Center yesterday evening and held a meeting with the team working in the field, especially İZSU, Fire Brigade, Science Affairs, Police, Social Services, Cemeteries, Social Projects, Eşrefpaşa Hospital. After the meeting, Mayor Soyer visited the tent city area and asked about the needs of the earthquake victims. sohbet he did. Mayor Soyer thanked all the personnel working in the earthquake area one by one and said, "I'm glad to have you, we will get through these days together." President Soyer said, “Since the first day, our friends have been making efforts to improve the service conditions here, step by step. We are at your service with our field hospital, mobile kitchen and search and rescue team. Currently, personnel of 16 departments are working here. We have over 700 friends. Our fire brigade personnel had been working here for days. Today they have been transferred to other regions. I am proud of each of my friends. They performed a very tiring work under very difficult conditions, at a very intense pace. They saved many lives, they cured many troubles. Therefore, we are proud of Izmir. I am grateful to each of them. They will be here for a longer period of time. We will continue to heal the wounds by increasing the quality of service and expanding the field every day.”
“We will stand by our citizens until they breathe”
President Soyer said, “We will be with our citizens here until they breathe. The hardest part was the water-related part. One of the pumping stations supplying water to Iskenderun was malfunctioning. Our friends managed to fix it, give water. We are now supplying water to 3/2 of Iskenderun. We continue our municipal services in the most perfect way here, just as we do in Izmir. From here we will go to Osmaniye. A very intense work awaits us in Osmaniye. My friends have been trying hard there since day one. We will continue this work,” he said.
