Under the chairmanship of TCDD Transportation General Manager Ufuk Yalçın, the earthquake disaster that occurred in Kahramanmaraş and affected ten provinces was evaluated.

Wishing God's mercy to the citizens, railwaymen and their families who lost their lives in the earthquake, and a speedy recovery to the injured, TCDD Transportation General Manager Ufuk Yalçın underlined that one of the most important needs in these disasters is healthy and fast transportation service, and said:

“One of the most important services in healing the wounds of this disaster, which has deeply suffocated our country, is the transportation service. For the rescue of our citizens under the rubble, the delivery of aid teams and equipment and meeting the vital needs of our citizens and aid teams are of vital importance. Under the coordination of our Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, together with TCDD General Directorate and TCDD Transportation General Directorate, we mobilized our railways to heal the wounds caused by the earthquake.”

Stating that a route was drawn in line with the demands of the AFAD Presidency in freight and passenger transportation, General Manager Yalçın continued: “Unfortunately, some of our roads were damaged due to the earthquake and we cannot operate trains from here. First of all, we carry our citizens who want to leave the earthquake zone to other cities by passing our existing scheduled trains on open routes. At the first stage, we started to carry passengers between Malatya and Sivas Ankara via Sivas, and we operate 10 trains a day between Mersin, İskenderun, Adana and Osmaniye. Hopefully, we will gradually start operating trains on other routes,” he said.

General Manager Yalçın said, “From the first night of the earthquake, we brought together the passenger wagons in Adana- Mersin- Iskenderun - Osmaniye- Malatya- Elazig, air-conditioned them and opened them for the shelter of our citizens.

Stating that as the Demiryolcu family, an aid campaign was organized to meet the urgent needs of our earthquake victims, TCDD Transportation General Manager Ufuk Yalçın said, “As a country, we are experiencing a great disaster, we are going through difficult times, we will overcome these difficulties as a nation in solidarity. We have been doing our part since the first day, we must do more in coordination. In particular, some of our friends living in the earthquake area have been working non-stop since the first day of the earthquake, and I would like to thank my team in the presence of Adana and Malatya Regional Managers.” said.
