Hasan Pezük, General Manager of the Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD), attended the Turkey Century Summit as a panelist. Hasan Pezük gave important information about the Transport and Logistics Master Plan, the 2053 Vision of the Railways and the ongoing and planned projects at the summit where the politics and business world meet.

After the statements of Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu on new and infrastructure projects in transportation, TCDD General Manager Hasan Pezük, who took the floor at the Turkey Century Summit, defined the railways as one of the most strategic institutions of our country with its 166 years of experience. Expressing that railways have been handled with a new understanding since 2003, Hasan Pezük announced that a total of 20 billion TL has been invested in railways in the last 371 years. “With the importance given to railways, we have increased our current railway length to 13 thousand 128 kilometers by constructing new lines.” Our General Manager Hasan Pezük continued his speech as follows: “We are delivering the fast, comfortable, economical and modern travel service that started between Ankara and Eskişehir in 2009 to 13 percent of the population of 46 provinces and the country. With the comfort and speed of YHT, we have carried over 70 million passengers to date. In addition to high-speed train lines, we are also constructing high-speed train lines suitable for 200 km/h where freight and passenger transportation can be carried out together. We are carrying out our construction works on the 4 thousand 581 kilometer railway line without slowing down. We are starting the construction processes by planning new lines in accordance with our 2053 targets and including the lines for which we have completed the project work in the investment program. We have completed the survey-project works in a total of 5 thousand 433 kilometers. We are continuing our project preparation work in the 4 kilometer section. This year, we are adding the Ankara-Sivas YHT Line to our Ankara-based high-speed rail network. We are working intensively to open the project as soon as possible, for which we have made great progress in the construction works. We renewed all of our conventional main lines by renewing and modernizing our existing conventional railway lines. We continue our preventive and preventive maintenance activities by combining them with new technologies. Along with the new lines to be built in the coming period, we are also making our plans to procure the vehicles that will be needed for the measurement and maintenance of these lines, primarily by using domestic and national technologies.”

Giving information about the development of the domestic railway industry, TCDD General Manager Pezük said, “The establishment of a sustainable infrastructure with domestic and national resources is very important for the future of our railways. With these thoughts in mind, we established the Institute of Rail Transportation Technologies (RUTE) in 2019, in cooperation with TÜBİTAK, for the development of technology by conducting R&D studies in the areas needed by the railway industry. Our aim is to make our country a leading country in rail transportation technology export. In order to make the technological development sustainable in railways, we complete many R&D projects one by one and implement them. In this context, we have brought our efforts to expand Automatic Train Inspection Stations (OTMI) locally and nationally on our railway line.” said.
