On 06.02.2023, two earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.7 in the center of Pazarcık in Kahramanmaraş and a magnitude of 7.6 in the center of Elbistan occurred. After the earthquakes, 9.136 aftershocks occurred.

According to the latest information received, a total of 44.218 citizens lost their lives in the provinces of Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Adana, Adıyaman, Osmaniye, Hatay, Kilis, Malatya and Elazığ.

A total of 528.146 citizens were evacuated from Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Adana, Adıyaman, Osmaniye, Hatay, Kilis, Malatya and Elazığ.

A total of 11.424 search and rescue personnel, consisting of AFAD, PAK, JAK, JÖAK, DİSAK, Coast Guard, DAK, Güven, Fire Brigade, Rescue, MEB, NGOs and international search and rescue personnel, are working in the region.

In addition, the total number of personnel working in the region is 3.455, together with the number of field personnel assigned in the field, including AFAD, Police, Gendarmerie, MSB, UMKE, Ambulance Teams, Local Security, Local Support Teams and 239.977 volunteers.

Excavators, tractors, cranes, dozers, trucks, water trucks, trailers, graders, vacuum trucks, etc. A total of 13.224 vehicles, including construction equipment, continue to operate.

38 Governors, 160 Local Administrative Officers, 19 AFAD top managers and 68 provincial directors were assigned to disaster areas. In addition, 29 Ministry of Foreign Affairs personnel have been deployed in the region for the coordination of international aid.

An air bridge has been established to transport personnel and materials to the region. 116 helicopters and 78 aircraft are operating under the Air Force, Land Forces, Naval Forces, Coast Guard Command, Gendarmerie General Command, General Directorate of Security, Ministry of Health and General Directorate of Forestry. To date, 13.177 sorties have been made.

A total of 38 ships are employed by the Ministry of National Defense and the Coast Guard Command for the purpose of personnel, material shipment and evacuation to the region.

Disaster Shelter Group

335.382 tents, which were dispatched by ministries, relevant institutions and organizations, and international countries and organizations, were set up. Container city installations continue in 10 provinces and 130 points.

In the disaster area and outside the disaster area; 1.914.292 people are offered shelter in tents, containers, GSB dormitories, hotels, public guesthouses, MEB facilities and other facilities.

Disaster Nutrition Group

A total of 370 mobile kitchens were sent to the region from the Turkish Red Crescent, AFAD, MSB, Gendarmerie and Non-Governmental Organizations.

In the disaster area, 72.665.488 hot meals, 11.117.619 soups, 14.359.253 food packages and packaged food, 30.769.431 water, 79.428.296 breads and 4.183.160 beverages were distributed.

Disaster Psychosocial Support Group

4 Mobile Social Service centers were sent to the provinces of Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Osmaniye and Malatya. The number of personnel transferred to the earthquake zone was 3.410, while 3.585 personnel and 1.565 vehicles were dispatched outside the earthquake zone. Psychosocial support was provided to a total of 614.993 people, 296.949 in the earthquake zone and 911.942 outside the earthquake zone.
