The General Directorate of Highways continues its work, which it started in the region after the earthquakes that occurred in Kahramanmaraş on Monday, February 6, at 04.07 and 13.24, affecting 10 provinces.

The road network, which is under the responsibility of Mersin (5th Region), Kayseri (6th Region), Elâzığ (8th Region) and Diyarbakır (9th Region) Directorates in the earthquake zone, was examined in detail and the damaged points were opened to traffic in a short time. The Bahçe-Gaziantep section of the Tarsus-Adana-Gaziantep Highway, which is the main transportation axis in the region, was opened to vehicle traffic within 24 hours.

While ensuring that the road network is kept open all the time, our 3.900 personnel from the General Directorate of Highways and all Regional Directorates across the country support the search and rescue efforts with 2.502 machinery and equipment in the earthquake zone. Prepared meals are distributed at designated points in the earthquake zone, and support is provided to meet the need for bread with a mobile oven. Basic needs such as supplies, basic food, clothes and blankets are met.

Under the responsibility of the General Directorate of Highways, guesthouses, various construction sites, administrative buildings and outbuildings throughout the country serve our earthquake-affected citizens. In addition, container support is provided to the region. Materials to meet the heating needs such as stoves, wood and coal are shipped to the region.

Inspection works at 99 Highway Inspection Stations were temporarily suspended in order to ensure rapid access to heavy vehicles that provide support to the region.

General Manager Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, who came to the region right after the earthquake, coordinates the Highways teams that come to the earthquake area from every part of the country, while working to ensure that the roads provide healthy service.
