Turkish Handball Federation (THF) announced that the captain of the National Men's Team, Cemal Kütahya, and his son, Çınar Kütahya, died in the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş.

The statement from the federation was quoted as follows:

"We are glad that the captain of the National Men's Handball Team and Beach Handball National Team, Cemal Kütahya, and his 6-year-old son Çınar Kütahya, who were left under the rubble in the house where he lived in Hatay Antakya, lost their lives in the earthquake disaster that took place in Kahramanmaraş on February 5, which left Turkey with deep sadness. It is with deep sadness that we learned of it.

May God have mercy on the deceased Cemal Kütahya and his son Çınar Kütahya, who, as the Turkish Handball Federation, will always keep his memory alive, who represented our country at the highest level as our A National Handball Team captain and played in Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club, to their grieving relatives and handball community. our condolences.

The late Cemal Kütahya's four-month pregnant wife Pelin Kütahya and mother-in-law Nurten Mutlu, who were in the same wreckage and we wish to be rescued alive, have not been reached yet.”
