”Microzonation and ground survey studies for new residential areas started”

Murat Kurum, Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, goes to the provinces affected by the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş, which is described as the "disaster of the century", and conducts consultations on the determination of new settlement areas at the coordination meetings. Minister Murat Kurum stated that in addition to the temporary accommodation areas to be established, studies have also been initiated for permanent residences.

At the provincial coordination meetings organized by the Minister Institution, the opinions of provincial administrators, municipalities, deputies, non-governmental organizations and academicians are taken for new settlement areas. In order to minimize the damage of the earthquake, the most suitable ground is determined by microzonation and ground survey studies. Accordingly, area determinations are made according to the right place, the most accurate ground, the most accurate technique, and the distance to the fault line for new settlements. After these determinations, ground survey studies were also started in the determined places. It will be possible to determine whether the ground is suitable for settlement by examining the samples determined from the areas within the scope of the studies.
