Work Continues on 215 Wrecks in Kahramanmaraş

Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu made statements regarding the earthquake in Kahramanmaraş.

Some of the headlines from Minister Soylu's speech are as follows: “192 residences, 11 thousand 861 are either destroyed, either heavily damaged or will be demolished immediately. 23 percent and one-fourth of the findings of this city so far are either burnt in the first place, heavily damaged or within the scope of immediate demolition. We were in Hatay yesterday afternoon, and we will be in Hatay today afternoon. In the center of Hatay, this figure is over 50 percent. One of the independent sections of both houses is either demolished or heavily damaged or within the scope of immediate demolition. Here, damage assessments will continue at the same minimal speed. We will continue our actions regarding damage assessments.

From the first moment of this earthquake, all processes continue under the supervision of the judiciary. In other words, the removal of the wreckage, identification of the dead, burial procedures, identification, including the judiciary, are carried out in coordination with all institutions, including health, criminal department, forensic medicine, when necessary. At the same time, the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and all our related units, experts, prosecutors and the examination of the cores taken, one by one, continues in all buildings, under the judicial supervision, regarding the processes arising from the deficiencies in construction in the buildings, which will be the subject of further investigations.

Whoever has made a defect here, whatever deficiencies are in question in the construction of the building, what has been done after the construction of the building, of course, all the proofs for the determination of all of these continue in all buildings. Without these, no debris is removed.

In every building to be entered, if it makes it possible to enter, it will be with our security teams. Here, our law enforcement officers are constantly around the buildings in demolished, urgently demolished and heavily damaged buildings, and they will continue to be present.

If there is a law enforcement agency in our cities, it now has three. We have tripled the number of our security forces in these cities. Buildings are numbered as usual. This system continues as before.

Within the framework of the system created by our friends here while the wrecks are being removed, these wreckers will be able to be there while the wrecks are being removed.

The houses will be delivered in a year. In this regard, some of our citizens, who consider the picture, some of which are malicious but some of them well-intentioned, as 'This place will not stand up again', and some of our citizens who try to exploit it and cause strife, said, 'This city will not be established again. This city will be evacuated. These cities will continue to live on solid ground as the cities of our compatriots living here again.

At the moment, there is no epidemic, such as an intestinal infection.

Tents were set up as temporary shelters, and 200 tents have been shipped from across Turkey so far. An important part of it has been established and continues to be established. About 100 thousand more tents will be shipped, and their installation will continue. Container centers will be built. Locations related to these have been identified. Infrastructure works are underway.

Our hopes continue in Kahramanmaraş. May God grant us to continue these hopes in these works in the coming hours. With great effort and struggle, our friends continue to work non-stop.

As of now, search and rescue efforts continue in 215 wrecks in Kahramanmaraş. Qualified buildings remain. It continues its search and rescue efforts in qualified buildings on a 24-hour basis. It reaches the villages.

As of last night, it was 144 thousand 956 families. As of this morning, 191 thousand liras have been sent to the accounts of 335 thousand families and 956 thousand 10 families in the first place. Currently, 833 associations and non-governmental organizations show support in the region with 59 people.

When the city begins to normalize and container cities are created, our evacuated citizens will of course be returned to their cities. Maybe the first year of their life here will not be the same as it was in the previous time period, but at least we will try to provide a situation where they can fulfill their needs and manage their needs.”
