Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Prof. Dr. Vahit Kirişci visited the earthquake area due to the earthquake that occurred in Kahramanmaraş and affected 10 of our provinces. First of all, Minister Kirişci made a statement in Hatay and informed that an action plan was created as a ministry.

“DSI HAS 140 DAM IN THE REGION”

Drawing attention to the action plan created, Minister Kirişci said, “1 aircraft, 6 helicopters, 1098 vehicles… These vehicles are both our air and ground vehicles, the vehicles of both our General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSI) and our General Directorate of Forestry. Our friends are working with devotion regarding this incident, which caused deep pain to all of Turkey, especially to our 10 provinces.” made its assessment.

Pointing out that DSI has 140 dams in the region, Kirişci said, “Since 140 of the 34 dams in the region are of critical importance, we paid special attention to them. Necessary investigations were made and continue to be done so that they do not cause any problems.” he said.

Kirişci concluded his words as follows:

“Our duty as servants is to bind up this wound and alleviate the pain. But we have brothers and sisters underground waiting to be rescued. Turkey has vast experience in these matters, and I am sure they will do their part in these matters. I offer my condolences to our beloved nation, I wish mercy to those who died, and may my Lord grant healing to our wounded brothers and sisters as soon as possible.”

Minister Kirişci later made statements at the AFAD Coordination Center in Adana. Kirişci said that the country experienced one of the biggest earthquakes of the century with 7,7 and 7,6 magnitude earthquakes.

Stating that it is important that the State Hydraulic Works facilities are not damaged by the earthquake, Kirişci stated that there are 140 facilities in the region.

Minister Kirişci said:

“I am saying this region as Adana Regional Directorate. Our regional directorates consisting of Diyarbakır, Elazığ, Kahramanmaraş and Şanlıurfa. We also tried to examine whether these dams and ponds pose a danger, even if they are in the close vicinity within their field of duty. In this context, these 140 facilities, of which 110 are dams and 30 are ponds. 15 of these dams are privately owned. We had the opportunity to evaluate the status of our dams by cooperating with EÜAŞ and acting on the information we received from them. A total of 79 facilities were examined in this sense. We gave priority to these facilities because we thought they might pose a danger. We will examine the rest in the same way, but there is no problem in 79 of these 72 facilities, and we have developed an idea as an organization that we need to follow 7 facilities a little more.”

Minister Kirişci stated that there are no problems with the Seyhan and Çatalan dams in Adana.

“WE ARE ON THE FIELD WITH 5 THOUSAND 664 STAFF”

Minister Kirişci emphasized that as a ministry, they are on the field with 5 thousand 664 personnel, 1221 vehicles, 6 helicopters and 1 plane.

Explaining that the accommodation capacity of the guesthouses belonging to the Ministry is 6 thousand 700, Kirişci noted that they serve to meet the needs of the citizens in this sense.

Regarding the animals affected by the earthquake, Kirişci said, “1000 tents for our animals have been sent to these 10 provinces. On the other hand, we also carried out the slaughtering of animals injured during the earthquake, especially by mobilizing them with the help of our veterinarians. The Meat and Dairy Authority has also made its own purchases for these slaughtered animals.” used his statements.

“EVERY CITIZEN WHO IS UNDER THE WRUSH IS VALUABLE TO US”

Stating that a new earthquake during the day after the earthquake that occurred at night made things difficult, Kirişci said:

“There was an inevitable panic among our citizens. Since their houses could not be considered as durable or as strong from the earthquake, they began to refrain from entering their houses. Our fair area, youth centers, guesthouses and schools belonging to our public institutions and organizations, which we have already offered to these citizens, have become serviceable for approximately 9 thousand of our citizens. These can be used in this sense. These studies are carried out successfully. Each of our citizens under the rubble is valuable to us. We are also making a great effort to bring them to light and bring them back to their normal lives.”

Reminding that 7 days of national mourning were declared due to the earthquake, Minister Kirişci said, “I hope this will be our last national mourning day or days that we have declared. Of course, we want to complete the process without further problems by continuing our work together on this issue.” used the phrase.
