TMMOB Chamber of City Planners reported that the development plans of the 326 thousand square meters of land allocated to TRT in Çekmeköy Barracks have been cancelled. The zoning plans of the 326 thousand square meters of land allocated to TRT for the purpose of “establishing a plateau” in the Çekmeköy Barracks in Istanbul were cancelled.

In the press release made by TMMOB Chamber of City Planners (ŞPO) Istanbul Branch, “With the allocation of forest land to TRT in Çekmeköy, the zoning plans that will destroy natural areas have been cancelled! We present it to the information of our members and the public.”

WHAT HAPPENED?

The historical Said Halim Pasha Hunting Lodge, located within the barracks land, was also allocated to TRT.

The Directorate of Cultural Heritage Preservation Regional Board No. 6, affiliated to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, announced that the historical building, which was built in the 19th century and belongs to the Treasury, was allocated to the TRT Istanbul Directorate. The mansion is used as the management building of the movie theaters.
