An open coal mine collapsed yesterday afternoon in northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The search for 51 missing people continues.

Yesterday's collapse at an open coal mine in the Alxa League of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in northern China left 2 people dead, 6 injured and 51 missing.

President Xi Jinping urged that everything possible be done to recover the missing and provide treatment to the injured, and that all relevant work be carried out appropriately.

Xi urged the scientific execution of rescue efforts, strengthening monitoring and early warning to prevent secondary disasters.

Xi also stated that the cause of the accident should be investigated as soon as possible, and the relevant people should be held responsible and management gaps should be eliminated.
