Sales of foldable phones in the Chinese market exploded in 2022, increasing by 144,4 percent compared to the previous year. This increase is far beyond the increase seen in the sales of ordinary mobile phones in this country.
Sales volume of foldable phones of this type increased for the ninth year in a row, reaching 2,83 million units last year. According to the reports of institutions conducting research on the relevant sector, this year's extraordinary increase is due to both the increased investments of major brands and the technological development in the country.
The sales of all seven of the biggest brands in this field have increased compared to the previous year. The largest in the market, Huawei leads the way with a 132 percent year-on-year increase and 2022 million units sold in 1,44. Oppo and Xiaomi, on the other hand, show sales growth of 453 and 112 percent on a yearly basis, respectively.
On the other hand, a report on the sector states that the foldable phone market will continue to develop; because such products are getting cheaper and more used. In 2022, 69 percent of these phones were offered for sale in the price range of 5 yuan (about $ 742) to 9 yuan.
