Reminding that education was suspended for 2 weeks in the earthquake zone, Özer emphasized that they took a decision yesterday and started the process of transferring the students registered in the provinces in the earthquake zone to an equivalent school type all over Turkey, “regardless of their residential address” and “without any conditions”. .
Stating that they will help families who want it, Minister Özer noted that two issues came to the fore in the meetings he held with students and teachers in the field, and stated that they took new decisions as a result of these meetings, and gave the following information:
“We will not seek attendance at all grades and levels throughout the second semester in our ten provinces. On the other hand, all of our teachers in Turkey and especially in the region are currently on administrative leave. We will continue to pay tuition fees. Today, in some tents, our paid teachers say, "We are not paid." they made a statement. We will pay the fees of all our teachers and master trainers working in the earthquake zone for tuition fees. Let no one be alarmed. Likewise for all our teachers who come to work here. Together, we will manage processes quickly.”
Stating that they are working to make the transfers easy, Minister Özer also gave the message that the break in education could be extended in ten provinces.
Underlining that the Ministry of National Education is on the field with all its means, Minister Mahmut Özer said that they provide the citizens with accommodation in schools, dormitories, practice hotels and teachers' houses. Özer said, “We are distributing 800 thousand hot meals. Food produced in vocational high schools, food produced in practice hotels… Our teachers work voluntarily in the field.” said.
Noting that currently, many teachers from different provinces in the earthquake region support search and rescue and aid activities, Özer said that there are over a thousand teachers from other provinces in Malatya alone, and that they are also conducting a study on the permissions of these teachers.
