Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Club athlete Kerem Kamal, who won the gold medal in the Ibrahim Moustafa Ranking Series Wrestling Championship held in Alexandria, Egypt, presented his medal to the earthquake victims.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality's world champion wrestler Kerem Kamal got on the mat in the Ibrahim Moustafa Ranking Series, which started in Egypt on February 23. Struggling in 60 kilos, Kamal started the tournament from the quarter-finals. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality athlete defeated Chinese Liguo Cao 5-2 and advanced to the semi-finals. Kerem Kamal, who beat his Kyrgyz rival Nurmukhammet Abdullaev 8-0 in the semi-finals, defeated Kazakh wrestler Yemar Fidakhmetov 9-0 and wore the gold medal around his neck.

“A gift to earthquake victims”

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Club wrestler Kerem Kamal, who said that he took part in this important championship by deeply feeling the sadness of those who lost their lives in the earthquake, said, “As a country, we experienced great sadness in the earthquake that took place in Kahramanmaraş. We came to Egypt with the bitterness of this. We are getting good grades as a national team. I also won the gold medal by beating all my opponents. I am happy for this, but a part of me is very sad. I present this medal to our citizens who lost their lives in the earthquake. I hope we will not experience such disasters again in the future.”
