The companies involved in the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant Project (NGS) joined hands for the earthquake victims. In this context, basic supplies were collected at points established in Silifke, Kum Mahallesi and Taşucu, where the majority of Akkuyu NPP employees live. Project staff and residents brought basic necessities such as clothes, shoes, blankets, heaters and sleeping bags to the collection points. As of the evening of 7 February, at least 4 tons of material collected was delivered to Silifke Municipality. Staff and residents will continue to collect supplies until February 10.

The contractors of the Akkuyu NPP project also sent around 80 vehicles, including cranes, tractors, excavators and dump trucks, to the site to support debris removal. More than 200 personnel went to the earthquake area together with the vehicles.

In addition, more than 60 buses were sent to Adana Airport so that doctors can be transported by air to earthquake victims who need medical assistance.

In addition to the existing blood donation points against the need for blood in the earthquake area, blood donation points were opened in the Red Crescent office in Silifke and the workers' camp in Büyükeceli.

AKKUYU NUCLEAR offices in Ankara and Moscow will also transfer the cash aid collected to support earthquake victims to the accounts of the TR Ministry of Interior Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).

Anastasia Zoteeva, General Manager of AKKUYU NÜKLEER A.Ş, made a statement on the subject: “It is impossible to remain indifferent to a disaster of this scale. We are very grateful to our colleagues and all employees at our construction site for their participation in this cooperation. In a situation where every second is precious, forces and resources must be mobilized immediately. Of course, we will go beyond the measures we take and provide all possible support to the victims as long as necessary. We mourn together with the Turkish people. We offer our deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the earthquake, wish a speedy recovery to the injured and hope that those trapped under the rubble will be rescued as soon as possible.”
