As of today, the duties of the police personnel in Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Gaziantep and Malatya, which are the provinces affected by the recent earthquakes, will be considered as “oriental service”.

The Regulation on the Amendment of the Regulation on the Appointment and Relocation of Members of the Security Service Class, prepared by the Ministry of Interior, was published in the Official Gazette and entered into force.

According to the regulation, the practice of dividing the "oriental service" into 4 regions, which will come into effect next year, has been abolished. The two-zone implementation, which is currently being implemented, will continue as the 1st region (west) and the 2nd region (east). The western and eastern provinces will not be divided into groups again among themselves.

Thus, within the scope of the 4 region application, the decision to subject the personnel who have completed their "oriental duty" to a compulsory relocation in the western provinces if they complete their duty period has been abolished.

War veterans, victims of civilian terrorism, and members of the police who were relatives of martyrs and veterans were also exempted from "oriental duty" and were given the right to be assigned to the place where they were registered.

4 of the Provinces Affected by the Earthquake Added to the 'Oriental Mission' Region

Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Gaziantep and Malatya, which were affected by the recent earthquakes, were included among the provinces that are considered to be the 2nd region (east) service, referred to as the "orient".

Accordingly, the terms of office in 4 units, including 48 provinces, 4 districts and 56 provincial organizations directly affiliated to the center, were rearranged. As of today, the time that the personnel in charge in these provinces will work will be counted as "oriental service".

The terms of office were reduced in 15 provinces, 99 districts and 9 provincial organizations directly affiliated to the center, including the units included in the eastern mission due to the earthquake.

Opportunity to Complete the 'Second Orient Quest'

In line with the ipka (request to stay in place), the personnel who have completed their term of office in the units in the eastern provinces are given 6 years of service in units with 10 years, 5 years in units with 8 years, 4 years in units with 6 years, 3 years in units with 4 years and 2 years. They were given the right to complete the "second oriental mission" if they served for 3 years uninterruptedly.

In the previous periods, uninterrupted employees in the eastern region will also be able to benefit from this right. Personnel with the rank of chief of police and chief of police will not be able to benefit from this.

Change in Age Limit and Ipka Demand

The duration of the rights provided to the personnel with 3 years of age left until retirement has been increased to 5 years. Accordingly, the personnel with 5 years of age remaining to their retirement will be able to be left on duty or to be appointed to any place they want, if their request and situation comply with the conditions in the regulation.

If at least 2 children of the staff are studying at the university, the demand for ipka will be met.
