100 Students Selected to 'Turkish Space Travelers' Program Graduated

100 students who participated in the 'Turkish Space Travelers' program carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education, Turkish Space Agency Presidency and Space Camp Turkey and 20 accompanying teachers received their certificates at the graduation ceremony.

Gifted children aged 29-3, selected by the Ministry of National Education and the Turkish Space Agency, participated in the trainings of the Turkish Space Travelers program, which was given between January 9 and February 15 with a scholarship provided by Space Camp Turkey.

Students from 17 provinces, including Adana, Diyarbakır, Elazığ, Gaziantep, Karabük and Şırnağı, successfully completed the program by receiving training in astronaut simulations, space shuttle flight missions, theoretical and applied astronomy.

Turkish Space Agency (TUA) President Serdar Yıldırım also emphasized that he is very happy to have Space Camp Turkey in our country, which was established 23 years ago with the visionary personality of the late Kaya Tuncer.

Stating that the Turkish Space Passengers program is a first in terms of raising awareness about space among young people, which is one of the most important goals of TUA and the National Space Project, Yıldırım said, “For the first time with the National Space Program, a Turkish astronaut will be held at the International Space Center in October, when we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of our Republic this year. will be in. Stating that the selected names will immediately go to the USA for training, Yıldırım said, “After 5-6 months of training, our first astronaut who will go to the Space Station and work there will meet with you and hold meetings when he returns. Emphasizing that a total of 600 people from the world have gone to space so far, Yıldırım said that this number will increase with the multiplier effect, and that new space stations will begin to be established, and said, "By 2030, there will be 5-6 space stations from the world orbit. Now private companies are starting to build stations. Scientific studies will be carried out at these stations.” he said.

Expressing that the number of people going to space will increase in the future, Yıldırım said, “The number of people going to space will increase in the future. First, a colony will be established per month. The issue is very serious and important. As Turkey, one of the most important goals of our agency is to open these doors for you.
