The preparatory work for the Second Century Economics Congress, which will be held by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality between February 15-21, 2023, continues with the Expert Meetings after the Stakeholder Meetings. The third of the expert meetings will be held on January 25 at Yeşilova Mound with the title “We Understand Our Past”.
The six-month preparatory meetings of the Second Century Economics Congress, which will be held by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality between 15-21 February 2023, continue. After the Stakeholder Meetings, which were held between August 10 and December 1, 2022 and constitute the first phase of the congress, the second phase of the congress activities, the Expert Meetings, continues. The third of the expert meetings, “We Understand Our Past”, will be held on January 25 at Yeşilova Mound, the oldest settlement in İzmir. The last expert meeting, “We See the Future”, will be held on February 4th.
At the “We Understand Our Past” meeting, many historians, archaeologists, experts and academics working on the history of İzmir, Anatolia and Turkey will come together to examine the workers, farmers and industrialists-traders-craftsman declarations prepared by the stakeholders. Evaluations to be made will shed light on the economic policies of Turkey in the next century.
Makes recommendations for the main congress
The final texts prepared as a result of the Farmer, Worker and Industrialist-Merchant-Tradesman Meetings held in the first stage of the congress were shared with the public. The Expert Meetings, which constitute the second phase, will continue until the first week of February.
Expert Meetings are organized on the basis of the topics of harmony with each other, nature, past and future, which are the pillars of the concept of circular culture.
The first expert meeting, “We Are Agree with Each Other”, was held on January 13 at St. Vukolos Church. Representatives of communities with different economic, social and cultural characteristics and 48 experts working on democracy and human rights came together at the meeting.
The second meeting, “Back to Our Nature”, was held on 20 January at İzmir Agricultural Development Center (İZTAM). At the meeting, 39 academics and experts working on the relationship between ecology and economy met to reveal how to build an economy in harmony with nature.
Experts, academics and intellectuals examine the three declarations put forward in previous stakeholder meetings from a conceptual and academic point of view and create recommendations for the main congress.
Economic Congress of the Second Century
After the Expert Meetings, the Second Century Economics Congress will be held between February 15-21, 2023, and policy proposals that will shape the new century will be shared with all of Turkey. Important speakers from Turkey and the world will attend the congress.
