Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç wished the decision taken by the Metropolitan Council to be beneficial for the re-activation of TOMTAŞ, which was established in 1925 as Turkey's first aircraft factory but was later closed.

The Joint Venture Agreement of TOMTAŞ Aerospace and Technology Inc., which will be established on December 22, 2022 with the support of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, with the partnership of ASFAT, TUSAŞ, TOMTAŞ Investment and Erciyes Technopark, was signed with a ceremony attended by Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar.

MINISTER AKAR HAS AGREEMENT WITH PRESIDENT BÜYÜKKILIÇ

In his speech at the signing ceremony, Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar said, “We have come to an agreement with our esteemed mayor. Until the 15th of the month, our esteemed mayor brings the land to us until the 15th of January.”

In the second meeting of the Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality January 2023 Assembly Meeting, an important decision was made on the subject. The Zoning and Public Works Commission Report, which was prepared on the request of Erciyes Teknopark A.Ş. to make an additional zoning plan together with the zoning plan amendment in the Kocasinan District, Fevzioğlu District, was accepted by the council members.

"WE WILL SUBMIT OUR MINISTER"

Expressing that the unfinished story was rewritten, Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç, in his statement on the subject, said, “We took action with the public, institutions and organizations to ensure that our Kayseri reloads the same function, as if 'the valiant rises from where he fell'. The work that we will describe as the main center of this work, which will revitalize the process dating back nearly 1926 years from 100 to the present, has been signed. As Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, we did our part in the planning process to take the necessary initiatives for the land allocation there, with the decision we took from our assembly regarding the works to be done in the airport area, and we passed it through our assembly within a week. We will continue the process regarding other works, and we will present it to the Minister.”

“GOOD LUCK TO OUR CITY AND OUR COUNTRY”

Reminding that the Joint Venture Agreement for TOMTAŞ was signed recently, Mayor Büyükkılıç said, “With the support of KAYSERİ Metropolitan Municipality, TOMTAŞ Aviation and Technology A.Ş. We have kept our promise to our Minister, Hulusi Akar. Good luck to our city and our country," he said.

Emphasizing that TOMTAŞ was re-established in its own city with the same name, Büyükkılıç said, “I would like to thank each and every one of those who contributed to this work that brought our strategic city, which is a safe harbor, to the same function again.”

President Büyükkılıç also expressed his satisfaction that the book Kayseri Aircraft Factory, which will shed light on the past in the scientific and academic field, will shed light on the aviation history of the country and Kayseri, and that it has been brought to the world of culture and science.
