According to research by PwC, cases of fraud in the business world have reached the highest level in 20 years. While 51% of companies have been defrauded in the last two years, employment fraud that has emerged in recent years has begun to attract employee candidates into this circulation. While employment fraud cases are recorded in many industries, fraudulent acting agencies topped the list.

The number of fraud cases in the business world is increasing day by day. According to PwC's Global Economic Crime and Fraud research, business fraud cases have reached a 20-year high, with the rate of companies defrauded rising to 51% in the past two years. So much so that fraud is no longer just from person to business or organization to organization. Employment fraud, which has been seen frequently in recent years, has started to attract employee candidates to this circulation. While employment fraud showed itself in many sectors with unrealistic job postings, 'cast' agencies, where player recruitments were made, were placed at the top of the list.

“Scam agencies hold auditions in hotels”

Yağmur Gökkaya, the founder of Maydonoz Agency and Talent House Art Academy, who brought many names to the sector, warned people against fraudulent agencies for the acting profession that many young people dream of: “Actor recruitment for projects such as TV series, movies and theater is mostly done by 'cast' agencies. However, with the spread of digital platforms in our daily lives, the proliferation of fake agencies and their easier access to people has become inevitable. Scam agencies hold auditions, charge people a certain amount of money to rise to the top. They even hold these meetings in public places such as hotels and restaurants so that they can build trust. However, let's see that as a result of negotiations and money transfer, there is zero. The actors are exposed and those auditions don't really appeal to any real projects."

“If the candidates do not sign the promissory note and do not pay, he takes them to the court”

Yağmur Gökkaya said, “Acting agencies that commit fraud do not only take money from the candidates. He has them sign a deed and if the fee they demand is not paid, he takes the case to court with the deed. In other words, we are talking about a chaotic order that exists legally but does not create employment. Player candidates need to distinguish the truth at this point. For example, non-fraud agencies tell applicants about the difficulties of the profession in the first step. It gives the knowledge that patience, effort and time should be spent and that he should receive a well-equipped education no matter how talented he is. On the other hand, they openly include the identities of the players they have brought to the sector on their sites.”

“They are undermining the development of the Turkish TV series and film industry”

Saying that fraudulent agencies alienate people who want to become actors from the career they dream of, Yağmur Gökkaya, Founder of Talent House Art Academy, said, "The swindlers, who are promising people but still do not bring any results, are an obstacle to the development of the Turkish TV series and film industry. With our academy, which has the title of Ankara's first private cinema school, we bring students who are successful in our education to the sector by directing them to management companies.
