The introductory ceremony of the “Reuniting with Education” project, which was organized to include students who are not registered in the education system, through the tracking system, was held with the participation of Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer.

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer, in his speech at the ceremony held at Gölbaşı Mogan Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School Application Hotel, pointed out that education is the most important instrument in increasing the human capital of countries. reminded that. Explaining that this data indicates that Turkey could not use its human resources very efficiently in the 2000s, Özer said, “Three important steps have been taken in the last twenty years. The first is physical investment. Huge classrooms and schools are being built in all our provinces and districts so that the children of this country can access education at all levels, from pre-school to higher education. While there were 11 thousand classrooms in the entire education system in the 44s, today we have around 14 thousand classrooms.” said.

Underlining that another issue is the social policies implemented in education, Minister Özer said that in the last two decades, a budget of 525 billion lira has been used for applications such as conditional education aid, hostels, bussed education, free meals, free textbooks so that the children of socioeconomically disadvantaged families can meet with education. Expressing that the third important step is the removal of antidemocratic practices that hinder education such as the headscarf ban and the coefficient application, Özer said that an education system that is much more sensitive to social demands has been put forward in the last two decades.

“At this point, the enrollment rate in 5-year-olds has increased from 11 percent to 99 percent, the schooling rate in primary school has increased to 99,63 percent, the schooling rate in secondary school has increased to 99,44, and the schooling rate in secondary education has increased to 95 percent. Özer expressed his gratitude to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the leader of this three-dimensional development.

Noting that they set out to build 2022 new kindergartens in 3 in order to make pre-school education much more widespread and to increase accessibility, Özer said, “Because the number of kindergartens in Turkey was 2. Three-year-old schooling rates were 782 percent, four-year-olds were 9 percent, and five-year-olds were 16 percent.” he reminded.

Özer said, “What was our goal by building 3 new kindergartens? It was to finalize the stage of universalization in education in Turkey, and together we carried out a huge mobilization as the Ministry. We created a capacity of 6 thousand 4 kindergartens in one year.” he said.

Özer emphasized that, thanks to this, the schooling rate for the three-year-olds has increased from 9 percent to 16 percent, the four-year-old schooling rate has reached from 16 percent to 38 percent, and the five-year-old schooling rate has reached from 65 percent to 99 percent.

“We have solved the whole problem of preschool in the last year.” Özer said, "There is a need under two headings at the current point, and the first is to control the absenteeism and dropout rates of current students. The second is to include our unregistered students in the education system. That's what we're here for today. I hope we will include it in the education system without leaving out even a single student.” said.

“Our goal is to increase the schooling rate in secondary education to 99 percent in three months”

Özer continued as follows: “Our goal is to increase the enrollment rate in secondary education from 95 percent to 99 percent within three months. Today, we have eight provinces with 9 or more unregistered students in primary, secondary and high schools: İstanbul, Ankara, İzmir, Adana, Konya, Şanlıurfa, Gaziantep and Diyarbakır. Hopefully, together with you, we will reach all our students one by one and increase the schooling rates at all levels of education to 99 percent by the end of March. We will reach the addresses of our students one by one and listen to their families. We will listen to your children's problems and we will produce the most suitable solution for them and include them in our education system. For the first time in Turkey's century, we will continue our blessed walk with an education system where all our children have access to education at all levels of education. Thank you all so much. Hopefully, by the end of March, we will have completely solved the problem of non-schooling in secondary education by giving the good news to all of Turkey.”
