MEB Prepared 'Teacher's Guidebook on Curriculum Literacy'

The Ministry of National Education prepared a "Teacher's Guidebook on Curriculum Literacy" for teachers in order to ensure that the curriculum gains can be applied correctly and effectively in the lessons and that similar course practices are realized throughout the country.

Ministry of Education; It continues to prepare curricula that take into account individual differences, provide meaningful and permanent learning, are associated with previous learning, and integrate with other disciplines and daily life within the framework of values, skills and competencies. In this context, "Curriculum Literacy Teacher's Guide Book" was prepared in order to implement the curriculum as planned and to create a common perspective in realizing the general objectives in the programs and the achievements of the courses.

In the first part of the four-part guidebook, what curriculum literacy means and why it is important; In the second part, the concepts of “curriculum”, “curriculum”, “lesson plan” and “hidden curriculum”, which are different types of programs, are explained. In the third part, the philosophical, social, psychological and historical foundations of the curriculum are explained; these explanations are supported by quotations from current curricula, and the reflections of the basics of curricula on current curricula are shown. In the fourth chapter, the elements of the curriculum (target, content, learning-teaching process and measurement-evaluation) are explained.

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated the following in his evaluation on the subject: “It is of critical importance that our teachers, who aim to train their students in the best way, have a good command of the relationship between the objectives, content, learning-teaching process and measurement-evaluation elements of the curriculum. While the lessons are being taught, our teachers should handle the acquisitions of the subjects not only at the level of knowledge, but also by considering the levels of application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation; It will enable our students to develop their metacognitive and socio-emotional skills and to better understand the lesson. We want to be with our teachers with the Curriculum Literacy Teacher's Guide Book that we prepared during this lecture process. By guiding them, we aim to establish a teaching union throughout the country and to ensure that similar course practices are realized.

Thus, for example, in the application of an achievement at the analysis level; 'What is an achievement at the analysis level, what should be done in order to develop the skills related to this achievement in students, what kind of learning process should be planned and how should the lesson be taught?'... We explained some of the selected achievements to explain this, and included the sample lesson plans of the relevant achievement as an appendix. In addition, with this book we have prepared, we aim to develop the competencies and competencies of our students by putting the unit, subject, achievement, and knowledge levels included in the content into practice together with theory, ensuring the integrity of knowledge, skills, attitudes, behaviors and values.”
