Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyer, introduced the New Karabağlar Gaziemir Metro, which will be the sixth phase of the İzmir Light Rail System. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality continues to make big investments in rail system and public transportation. İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, which has come to an end in Çiğli Tram, started the construction of Buca Metro, and will open Narlıdere Metro this year, is bringing a new line to the city. Karabağlar-Gaziemir Metro Line, which will be the sixth stage of İzmir Light Rail System, was introduced with a ceremony held at Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center.

Soyer said, “Buca Metro was the biggest investment in İzmir history with a budget of 765 million euros. The total cost of the Karabağlar Gaziemir Metro line will be 2 billion 105 million euros, including its vehicles. We continue to break our own records. The investment figure of 2 billion 105 million Euros will be one of the most important figures not only for İzmir but also for Turkey. Moreover, we will achieve this with the resources of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality from start to finish," he said.

Neşet Ertaş stop on the new metro line

President Soyer, who gave a message of unity and solidarity for the enlightenment of the country, announced that Neşet Ertaş, who lived in Karabağlar in İzmir for many years, would be named after him. The presentation ceremony ended with Neşet Ertaş's ballad and applause.

The line, which has been prepared in accordance with the Izmir Transportation Master Plan, is expected to carry 2030 thousand passengers per day in 340. With the line drawn by conducting surveys and determining the regions with high population density, it is aimed to breathe especially for the transportation and traffic in Eskiizmir, Bozyaka districts of Karabağlar district and Gaziemir region.

Fairizmir Havaray Shelved

The Havaray project, which was previously planned for Fair Izmir access, was cancelled. With this big investment, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality provides the new fairground to the airport by crossing İZBAN over the Cistern. There are seven stations between Fair İzmir and Adnan Menderes Airport.

The approval of the Ministry of Transport is required for the tender phase!

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality submitted the approval of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure General Directorate of Transport Infrastructure for the project it prepared for Karabağlar Gaziemir Metro. After the approval, it will be sent to the Presidency Strategy and Budget Department to enter the investment program and the preparations for the construction tender will begin.
