Kagithane-Istanbul Airport Metro Line, which was built by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure as a marvel of Turkish engineering with domestic and national means, opens this Sunday. The metro, built with the smart tunnel concept, will offer transportation at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour.

According to the news of Barış Savaş from Sabah Newspaper; “The project of the firsts and the greatest, which is a unique work of Turkish technique and engineering, is put into service. The 34-kilometer-long Kağıthane - Eyüpsultan - Istanbul Airport section of the Beşiktaş (Gayrettepe) - Kağıthane - Eyüpsultan (Göktürk) - Istanbul Airport Metro, implemented by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, will be opened by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Sunday. With the opening of the line, it will be possible to reach Istanbul Airport, which is an important terminal in domestic and international air transportation, directly by the rail system in a safe, fast and economical way.

FAST TRAIN COMFORT

Istanbul Airport Metro Line was built with a perfect railway infrastructure by using precast panels, which is a first in Turkey, offering passengers the opportunity to 'driving in the comfort of a high-speed train'. The average speed on the metro line will reach 120 kilometers per hour. In other metro lines, the average speed is 35 kilometers and the maximum speed is 80 kilometers. In this respect, the Istanbul Airport metro line will provide a very fast transportation. With the opening of the line, it will be possible to reach Istanbul Airport in 24 minutes from Kağıthane and 12 minutes from Göktürk.

Beşiktaş (Gayrettepe) - Kağıthane - Eyüpsultan (Göktürk) - Istanbul Airport metro line with a total length of 37.5 kilometers consists of a total of 9 stations. The 34-kilometer section to be opened will pass through Kağıthane, Eyüpsultan and Arnavutköy districts and will serve 8 thousand passengers daily with 600 stations. In the first stage, the line will be integrated with the Mahmutbey metro in Kağıthane. The length of the line will be increased to 3.5 kilometers with the completion of a 37.5 kilometer stage that will connect Zincirlikuyu with the metrobus stop between March and May. Thus, the line will serve with a daily capacity of 800 thousand passengers.

With 10 Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) at the same time on the Istanbul Airport Metro line, Turkey's most used machine project was carried out. The excavation record was broken with 333 meters of excavation in a week and 1233 meters in a month.

EXTREMELY MODERN AND STYLISH

SABAH, before the opening of the giant project, which will provide access to Istanbul Airport, one of the largest airports in the world, with the metro line, has captured the images of the last version of the line, which was built with domestic and national facilities. In the images, it is seen that the metro stations are completed and ready for opening. The modern and stylish architectural details of the metro line draw attention in the photographs.

SMART TUNNEL CONCEPT

The metro line was built with the smart tunnel concept. The tunnel, which was implemented for the first time in the world's subways, was equipped with fire safety technology. In this line, the signaling system developed by ASELSAN for the first time with domestic and national means will be used. Train signaling and interface works will also be implemented with domestic means. Vehicles with domestic electrical systems and batteries will be used. The first domestic metro vehicle engine will be used in the vehicles that will be put into use in addition to the existing 10 sets of trains.

MILESTONES OF THE PROJECT
