TCDD Transportation General Manager Ufuk Yalçın and the accompanying delegation made investigations on the Gayrettepe-Istanbul Airport Metro Line, which will be put into service on Sunday, January 22 by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure with the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
After the examinations of General Manager Ufuk Yalçın; With the integration of Gayrettepe – Kağıthane – Istanbul Airport Subway, which is the longest subway tender and built in one go, to Istanbul Airport, which has inspired the world, transportation has become more modern, comfortable and faster. From now on, it will be possible to reach Istanbul Airport in 62 minutes from Kağıthane and 70 minutes from Gayrettepe. Hosting innovations and firsts, our General Directorate continues to work with the PTT in order to use the Turkey Card transportation card. On our Gayrettepe-Istanbul Airport Line, there is also the possibility of transportation with Istanbul Card.” he said.
Stating that they will serve with E 120 type vehicles with 4 wagons that can reach a speed of 37000 km per hour, General Manager Yalçın said: “Our train sets have a capacity of 850 passengers. In fact, the training of 20 mechanics who will be assigned to duty has been given by our Eskişehir Railway Training and Examination Center Directorate, and our machinists who are competent in their field will carry out the fast and comfortable transportation of Istanbul.” He concluded his visit with his words.
Gayrettepe-Istanbul Airport Metro Line, which is the longest metro route built in Turkey, is 37,5 km long. The line, which will meet a very important transportation need of Istanbul, consists of a total of 2 stations, including Gayrettepe, Kağıthane, Hasdal, Kemerburgaz, Göktürk, İhsaniye, Terminal 9, Istanbul Airport, Cargo Terminal.
