Izmir Metropolitan Municipality will support people who had to quit shepherding due to economic difficulties, with construction materials so that they can make domestic animals and corrals.
It is aimed to return young shepherds to production
The shepherd profession, which is on the verge of dying out in our country due to economic conditions and lack of support, and which is becoming less and less preferred by young people, continues to be supported by the Mera İzmir project carried out by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality companies İzDoğa and İzTarım.
With the "start-up" support initiated within the scope of the Mera İzmir project, which was initiated to combat poverty and drought, it is aimed to regain the young producers who had done small cattle breeding before and gained experience in this field, but gave up livestock due to economic problems.
Animal and construction material support will be provided
Within the scope of the “start-up” support, in which Bergama, Kınık, Bayındır and Kiraz were determined as pilot regions, for those who want to return to the shepherd profession, 40 local breed barbels or malt goats suitable for İzmir's climate and nature, and bricks, iron, cement to make a corral. such as construction materials will be provided.
With the supports made within the scope of the Pasture İzmir project, it is aimed that young producers will produce in rural areas and be directed to the pasture livestock system.
Manufacturers will be supported by a purchase guarantee
Producers who receive start-up support must raise their animals in accordance with the Mera İzmir project criteria. It is a priority to graze animals on pasture for at least seven months and not to feed water-consuming forage crops such as corn silage to animals.
After receiving the support, it is planned to give milk and meat purchase guarantee to shepherds who produce according to these criteria and to be included in the "Another Agriculture is Possible" certification program.
Application requirements announced
The application conditions for the start-up support to be given within the scope of the Mera İzmir project carried out by İzDoğa and İzTarı have been determined.
- Being a citizen of the Republic of Turkey
- To reside within the provincial borders of Izmir
Be over 18 years old and not over 30 years old - He had previously done small cattle breeding and gained experience in this field; but to quit livestock due to economic difficulties
- The person himself and his first-degree relatives do not own cattle and sheep
- Being an agricultural cooperative partner
