An information seminar on “Children's Rights, Privacy and Safety in the Digital World” was held in cooperation with Ankara Metropolitan Municipality and Ankara Business and Professional Women's Association (BPW).
In the seminar given by lawyer İrem Kolbakır; Information was given on the risks and threats to be experienced in the digital age, technical measures that can be taken, violation of rights and digital rights.
To the seminar held in the Children's Assembly building; About 100 people from the families of children who are members of the children's council attended.
OBJECTIVE: RAISING AWARENESS ON DIGITAL LITERACY
Department of Women and Family Services; It aims to raise awareness about understanding the risks and taking precautions, improving the digital literacy of parents and educators in this area, understanding the digital rights of children and understanding the legal remedies to be applied in possible violations of rights.
Tuğba Nagehan Turpcu, Child Services Branch Coordinator of ABB Women and Family Services Department, said, “We have prepared an information seminar on the rights and privacy of children on the internet in cooperation with the Ankara Business and Professional Women's Association. Recently, we carried out an awareness study on the violation of children's privacy on the internet. About 100 parents attended the seminar we held at the children's council. We plan to continue these efforts in other Family Life Centers and Children's Clubs," he said.
Lawyer İrem Kolbakır, who gave the seminar, said:
“With the increasing digitalization process, our children are faced with a series of dangers and risks as well as the benefits of the internet and the digital world. As the Ankara Association of Business and Professional Women, we attach importance to improving the development and literacy of children in this area, and in this context, the digital literacy of parents, since children are the foundation of society. In the joint event we developed in our municipality, we aim to raise awareness in this area for the parents of our children who are members of the children's council.”

I think that it will be very beneficial for our children to grow up as beneficial individuals to the society and for us parents to participate in the process. When we learn new things, we can be more useful and conscious to our children. Therefore, the information I will receive here is very important for me and my child.”
Şaziment Altınok: “I came to get information. Technology is constantly evolving. It is very nice to have such seminars to keep up with this. I came to this seminar to protect our children from the danger of the internet. I think this training is very useful. I would like to thank the Metropolitan Municipality for organizing this training.”
