Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay carried out the first mortar installation in the old Tekel Building – Warehouse No 4, the restoration of which was started within the scope of the “Dar'ül Mülk Project”, Turkey's largest revival project. President Altay said, “We are completely restoring this registered building, which is one of the first modern architectural examples of Turkey, by preserving all the elements that have preserved itself until today. Thus, we will be presenting one of the important works of the first period of Republican architecture to the service of the people of Konya. I am very happy to build a place that will be frequented by our young people with its exhibition areas and book cafe.” used his statements.

Stating that one of the most important priorities of Konya Metropolitan Municipality in this period is to reveal the cultural heritage, Mayor Altay pointed out that they are carrying out the biggest revival movement of Turkey within the scope of Dar-ül Mülk Project. Emphasizing that many projects were implemented in the said process, Mayor Altay said, “We are now in the old Tekel Warehouse on Mevlana Street. This is a registered building. With the acquisition of the property, the project work was completed here. Today we held the first mortar laying ceremony. We are building an important center where the book cafe and exhibition areas will be frequented by our young people. We are planning to complete this building, which will be one of the most important attraction centers of our Mevlana Avenue, within this year, and open it to the service of our young people in particular.” said.
ONE OF THE IMPORTANT WORKS OF THE FIRST PERIOD REPUBLIC ARCHITECTURE
President Altay stated that they will also produce a work that will reflect the period in terms of restoration, and said, “With the expropriation, we are bringing a job that exceeds 50 million liras to our city. This is actually a building within the walls. It was built in the 1930s as one of the first examples of modern architecture in Turkey. We are completely restoring this registered building by using the data of that period, preserving all the elements that have preserved itself until today. Thus, we will be presenting one of the important works of the first period of Republican architecture to the service of the people of Konya. Restoration works of the building, which was previously an Official Institution Area and gained the status of "Cultural Facility Area" as a result of the studies, will be completed in 2023.
