The architect of the project, Prof. Dr. Selçuk Şirin thanked President Soyer in his speech. According to research, about 80 percent of children born in Turkey open their eyes to a house without books. The 1 Million Books Project was launched with the aim of meeting all children with books as soon as they are born. 1 Million Books was a successful social project with the aim of explaining the importance of reading to children from birth and giving their first books as gifts to children who do not have books at home.

Painter Devrim Erbil donated 150 of his works to the project to establish the first library for more children. Erbil donated 1 signed, silkscreen prints to the 150 Million Books Project. By purchasing the works specially prepared for 1 Million Books, it contributed to the delivery of free books to children in need.
