Turkish Scientists Identify a New Molecule Effective in the Treatment of Liver Cancer

The study on the new molecule, which was determined to be effective in the treatment of liver cancer, received the "best oral presentation" award at the 8th International Bahçeşehir University Drug Design Congress.

Near East University DESAM Research Institute researchers have identified a new molecule that is effective in the treatment of liver cancer, one of the most common types of cancer, in laboratory research carried out in collaboration with different universities from Turkey and TRNC. In the cell culture lines of the molecule, the researchers started efficacy studies for in vitro liver cancer cells as well as other cancer types such as colon, breast and pancreas. He shared it with the scientific world at the International Bahçeşehir University Pharmaceutical Design Congress.

Prof. from the Near East University DESAM Research Institute. Dr. The results of the research involving H. Seda Vatansever were presented at the congress by Dr. Presented by Faika Başoğlu. Assoc. Dr. Eda Becer, Hilal Kabadayı Ensarioğlu, Prof. Dr. Nuray Ulusoy Güzeldemirci, Ebru Didem Coşar, received the "best oral presentation" award at the congress for the presentation in which they explained the effects of the molecule they obtained on liver cancer cells.

The new molecule may also be hope for different types of cancer!

Since liver cancer is a disease with a very limited treatment, the data provided by the new molecule determined for new drug designs are very important. It has anticancer activity and is designed based on “Levamisole” and “Triapine”, which have “imidazo[2,1-b]thiazole” and “thiosemicarbazide” structures approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in cancer treatment. The expected new molecule was synthesized in 4 steps with high efficiency. In the research, the activity of a total of 8 molecules with similar structures was also studied.

The researchers, who determined the inhibitory effect of the new molecule on liver cancer cells, continue their laboratory research on new molecules with a similar structure. Turkish researchers; It also continues its studies to identify new candidate molecules that will guide drugs that can be developed in the treatment of different cancer types such as liver cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer and brain cancers.
