ISTKA SUPPORT

Varank, who was in the USA to attend CES 2023, made observations at the Istanbul Pavilion, where Turkish technology entrepreneurs participated in the fair with the support of the Istanbul Development Agency (ISTKA), which carries out its activities under the coordination of the General Directorate of Development Agencies of the Ministry of Industry and Technology.

REVIEWED ONE BY ONE

Varank, who inspected all 52 stands and received information about the technologies developed by Turkish entrepreneurs, Turkey's Washington Ambassador Hasan Murat Mercan, Turkey's Los Angeles Consul General Sinan Kuzum, Development Agencies Deputy General Manager Ahmet Şimşek, ISTKA Secretary General Erkam Tüzgen, Ankara Development Agency General Secretary Cahit Çelik, Bursa Eskişehir Bilecik Development Agency (BEBKA) Secretary General Zeki Durak and İpekyolu Development Agency (İKA) Secretary General Burhan Akyılmaz.

Minister Varank stated that CES is the world's largest electronics fair and said:

THERE IS GREAT EXCITEMENT

This fair is also a fair where new initiatives from different corners of the world meet. There are nearly a thousand start-ups here. We brought our 52 start-ups here with our Development Agencies, institutions and organizations that carry out different acceleration programs. Our young entrepreneurs show their products, present their ideas, establish networks, meet with investors and meet with potential customers. There is great excitement and interest.

WE PROVIDE DIFFERENT SUPPORT

We provide different supports to bring these initiatives here. We provide support such as accommodation, transportation and setting up a stand. At the same time, we created a Turkey, Istanbul platform. They can set up their stands free of charge, we cover their expenses. Turkish Airlines also has a significant contribution to transportation.

LET THEM OPEN TO THE WORLD

All are satisfied with the interest. I visited all of them one by one. I asked what they thought, I listened to their ideas. They are satisfied with our support. We see CES as an important platform. As the Ministry, we will continue to support our companies that will come to this fair together with our different institutions in the coming period. We want them to come, open up to the world and export.

WE GOT GREAT MOMENTUM

Turkey has recently gained a great momentum in technology-based entrepreneurship. In 2021, start-ups from Turkey managed to attract 1.6 billion dollars of investment from the world. We see that we will reach this figure in 2022.

WE DETERMINED OUR ROADMAP

You know, we announced the Turcorn 100 Program. We shared our Entrepreneurship Strategy with the public. If we want to grow Turkey with value-added production and a sustainable economy, the way to do this is to support entrepreneurship. As a ministry, we have actually determined our roadmap with the Turcorn 100 program and entrepreneurship strategy. With the support we give to our entrepreneurs, we will see new Turcorns from Turkey reaching a valuation of billions of dollars. We will see successful Turkish initiatives.

WE WILL BRING IT TO THE WORLD STAGE

Togg has been appearing at CES for two years. In addition, we attach importance to the fact that our initiatives come here. Last year, we brought nearly 20 start-ups here. This year we saw the number 52. We see that this number will increase. We see that women entrepreneurship is also coming to the fore. We can see a female partner in all companies. There are initiatives that only women start. The initiative in the field of health, founded by 2 women entrepreneurs, was perhaps one of the most interesting areas of the fair. When we saw the interest there, we were both proud of the success of the initiatives in Turkey and we saw how effective women entrepreneurs can be.

HERE ARE THE FEMALE ENTREPRENEURS

Büşra Alasya, Founding Partner of TheClico, one of the Turkish startups participating in the fair, stated that international fairs are the areas that especially start-ups need support the most, and said that İSTKA participated in the fair with both accommodation and transportation support.

ELECTRONIC WASTE MANAGEMENT

Köstebek Co-Founder Müge Baltacı stated that they are Turkey's first and most comprehensive electronic waste management digital infrastructure and pointed out that it is important for other countries to attend the fair both in terms of seeing start-ups in their own fields and getting to know the electronic waste market.

SMART GARDENS FOR CITIES

Vahaa Co-Founder Nehir Boyacıoğlu noted that they held investor and customer meetings and said that they developed smart gardens, a mixture of internet of things technology and hydroponic farming techniques, designed for urban people to grow their own food in their own homes.

INNOVATIVE INITIATIVES

Among the Turkish technology startups introduced at the Istanbul Pavilion; from the electric and autonomous air taxi initiative to the portable diagnostic device that allows to detect the risk of vision loss at an early stage; Innovative initiatives were exhibited, from the phone software that improves the cognitive performance of people with dyslexia, autism, intellectual disability or Alzheimer's to the mobile platform that brings together users who want to send cargo and those who want to earn additional income by traveling.
