The number of people using social media platforms in Turkey decreased by approximately 2022 million in 7. According to the “January 230 Digital World” report of We Are Social and Meltwater, which prepare global reports on the online behavior of people in 2023 countries every year, 73,1 percent of the total population in Turkey uses social media.

In January 2022, the rate of those using social media was 80,8 percent.

When these rates are interpreted within the 85 million population of Turkey, they correspond to approximately 7 million people.

Accordingly, the approximate number of social media users has decreased from 69 million to 62 million in the last year.

LINKEDIN AND INSTAGRAM DID THE MOST LOSSES

In 2022, the highest loss of users was experienced in Linkedin. Linkedin, which lost 1 million users in the last 4,2 year, was followed by Instagram with the loss of 3,5 million users.

In the last year, Facebook 1,6 million, Messenger 1 million 50 thousand, Youtube 500 thousand users lost.

The social media platform that gained the most new users in 2022 was Tiktok. Tiktok, which gained 4 million 302 thousand new users, was followed by Twitter with 2 million 450 new users. Another social media platform that increased the number of users in 2022 was Snapchat with 1,9 million new users.

E-COMMERCE ADVERTISEMENTS MOVE TO SOCIAL MEDIA

Güçlü Kayral, co-founder of Advantageix.com, Turkey's first cash-back shopping site, stated that according to the report, internet users spend 39,2 percent of their online time on social media platforms and said:

“Although social media loses its members in 2022, it is still the biggest tool in reaching huge masses.

There are around 45 million e-commerce customers in Turkey. The goal is to reach all 8 million people who spend 2 hours a day on the internet and 52 hours and 62,8 minutes directly on social media. If all of this mass is included in the e-commerce ecosystem, the annual e-commerce volume, which is currently around 700 billion liras, reaches 1,5 trillion liras. E-commerce companies have also started to use these channels in their advertisements to benefit from the power of social media.”
