This team, which we set up to quickly solve the problems in the back quarters of our city, found that there has been no school for 60 years in Abdi İpekçi Neighborhood, and that the children had to go to school by walking on a roadless land with great difficulty. The biggest demand of the people of the neighborhood was to build a school here. We decided to mobilize all the possibilities of our municipality. We started our work by signing a protocol with the Provincial Directorate of National Education. We quickly completed the site determination and project design processes. And today, with the participation of our Chairman, we are laying the foundation of Orhan Kemal Elementary School, named after him, together. When we complete this school, which consists of 32 classrooms and will provide education to a thousand children, we will have brought an unhindered education home in harmony with nature to Karabağlar. The ordeal that is seen in our children will come to an end," he said.
Worked with the Emergency Solution Team at 115 points
Mayor Soyer gave examples of the works carried out throughout the city in line with the determinations of the emergency solution teams, and said, “The work we have done within the Emergency Solution Team has shown us that the problems of each neighborhood are different from each other. For example, in Buca, the demand for green spaces in some of our neighborhoods came to the fore. We took action and started the Euphrates Nursery Living Park work there. When we complete it in the spring of 2023, we will have brought the social and equipment, a structure suitable for natural life and a contemporary recreation area to İzmir, and we will have given a breath of fresh air to the people of Buca. Again, in the works we carried out in Karabağlar Peker District, the demand of our citizens was the renewal of the park in their neighborhood. Our children also wanted a football pitch. After these determinations, we assigned our technical teams, completed the project design quickly and opened Peker Park in a very short time. Now Peker Park serves our citizens with its tea garden, walking path, chess and playgrounds. Dear President, at the opening of the park, we shot that first shot on the carpet field together with our children in the neighborhood. I wish you could see the excitement and gleam in their eyes that day. With this understanding of urbanism that we are trying to demonstrate in İzmir, one of our main goals is to eliminate the gap between the coast and the periphery. To provide all our neighborhoods with a safe city life, worthy of human dignity, that every citizen of Izmir deserves. In short, to increase the welfare of this city and to ensure its fair distribution. In line with this purpose, we have renovated 24 parks so far with our Emergency Solution Team works, we have carried out work at 16 points in 115 neighborhoods, and 19 of them are still in progress.

The school will take the title of the first school to be implemented with the possibilities of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and will eliminate the difficulty of walking long distances by crossing the mountainous terrain to get education for the children living in the region. The school, which will serve with 14 classrooms on an area of 545 thousand 32 square meters, will provide education and training opportunities for 2024 students. The building was designed to be environmentally friendly and barrier-free.
