Rize Received Artvin Airport Certificate

Rize Governor Kemal Ceber announced that Rize-Artvin Airport, the second airport built on the sea in Turkey, received an "Airport Certificate" as of 30 December 2022.

Following the opening on May 14, 2022 with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ) continued its activities with the Security Commitment given to the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (SHGM). Received Airport Certificate as of 30 December 2022.

Stating that Rize-Artvin Airport has received an Airport certificate, which means that it fully meets international and national safety standards, Governor Ceber said, “Our Rize-Artvin Airport, which was put into service on 14 May 2022, was completed with the Safety Commitment given by DHMI to DGCA until 30 December 2022 before certification. continued its activities. As of December 30, 2022, all standards determined for airport operation within the framework of the procedures and principles in Airport Certification and Operation Management (SHY-14A) have been provided, and DHMI General Directorate has been authorized on Rize-Artvin Airport Operation within the conditions specified in the 6th article of the regulation, and the certificate studies have been completed. The certificate has been given," he said.
Our Rize-Artvin Airport, which was operating until the completion of the certification studies, used 7,5 thousand 3 aircraft and 725 thousand 524 passengers in 870 months, and the total load (cargo + mail + baggage) was 369 tons.

Three taxiways, 250 meters long and 24 meters wide, serve with two aprons of 300×120 m and 120×120 m. While the size of the terminal building is 32 thousand m², the other closed areas are 15 thousand m². While the entrance ornament of the airport was made in the form of tea leaves, referring to the Rize culture, the 36-meter-high air traffic control tower was built in the shape of a tea glass. In the project, 2,5 million tons of stone was used as filling material, 100 times more than Ordu-Giresun Airport. There is a Tea Museum and a parking lot for 448 cars in the airport.
