Hilmi Kurtoğlu, President of the Menemen Chamber of Drivers and Automakers, emphasized that İZTAŞIT is a huge project and said, “With this project, we are serving our people with 104 new buses, 26 lines and 220 employees. İZTAŞIT should be considered as a multifaceted project that covers social and economic values. With the instruction of our President, at least 500 thousand liras are being used from the pockets of the people of İzmir. If our ticket prices had continued, this difference would have been evident.”
Profitable for tradesmen, safe and comfortable transportation for passengers
The İZTAŞIT project, which İzmir Metropolitan Municipality first implemented in Seferihisar in December 2019 in order to integrate the surrounding districts into the public transportation network, was put into service in Menemen as of November 16, following Kiraz. In accordance with the contract signed by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and Menemen Motor Carriers Cooperative No. 34, 25 buses on 103 lines operate within the “Pay As You Go, A and B” tariffs. Thanks to the new buses, while transportation is carried out with vehicles in compliance with the legislation in the Menemen region, irregular stop-and-go minibuses have ended and passenger and traffic safety has been increased. Thus, individual public transport operators in three districts were combined under the roof of cooperatives, and our surrounding districts were provided with safe and comfortable public transportation services.
