Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyer, supported the works carried out for a healthy future by the Buğday Association for Supporting Ecological Life by signing a “Goodwill Certificate”. President Soyer said that every step taken to create toxic-free cities is important.

Welcoming the members of the association at the Sovereignty House Meeting Hall, the President Tunç Soyersigned the “Goodwill Document” prepared within the scope of the “Towards Non-Toxic Cities” project. Emphasizing that every step taken to create toxic-free cities is important, Mayor Soyer said, “The issues you are working for are our issues as well. Issues that we want to find solutions to. We have a common will. Working for Toxic-Free Izmir is extremely important. We should have big goals in this regard. We should not use poison in the city or in the countryside," he said. Commitment to end weed poison use by 2025

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality has committed to make the necessary arrangements to end the use of herbicides (weed poison) in public areas under the control of the municipality by 2025, in order to create Toxic-Free Cities. The use of other pesticides and biocidal products containing chemical active substances used in the fight against pests is expected to be reduced by 2040 percent until 30. It is aimed to completely end the use of biocidal products containing chemical active substances used in the fight against all pesticides and pests in public areas under the control of the municipality by 2040.
