Bornova Municipality continued its trainings organized to support agriculture with Medicinal and Aromatic Plant Cultivation, which is used in many fields from health to industrial throughout the world. The training, which took place in the Bornova Municipality City Archive and Museum Dramalılar Mansion, attracted great attention from the Bornova residents. Bornova Mayor Mustafa İduğ stated that this agricultural production with high added value should be increased.

In the training given by Senior Agricultural Engineer Ersel Şengel, important information was shared about medicinal and aromatic plant species, cultivation techniques and times, areas of use and what should be considered in practice. It was stated that plants such as lavender, echinacea, lemon balm, yarrow, marigold, calendula, mint, thyme, basil and sage are medicinal and aromatic plant species. In addition, aromatic plant oils were also explained in the training.

Stating that medicinal and aromatic plants are used in various industrial sectors such as perfumery, cosmetics and spices, especially in the pharmaceutical and food industry, Bornova Mayor Mustafa İduğ said, “We are trying to give our producers the support they need by doing a lot of work on agriculture. In this context, we organize trainings in different fields. We wanted to raise awareness by bringing together the people of Bornova who are interested in the subject of medicinal and aromatic plants or who want to work in this field. Because the added value in this production is higher than many other products. The fact that families making a living from agriculture will definitely make production in this area will increase their income and reduce their risks," he said.
