Law Proposal Concerning the Survivors of Retirement Presented to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey

EYT breaking news… The regulation to be made for those who are old enough to retire was presented to the Presidency of the Assembly today. EYT terms have been explained and calculation tables have been clarified. As a result of the technical work prepared by the Ministry, the EYT draft was turned into a law proposal. The Bill of Law on Making Amendments to the Social Insurance and General Health Insurance Law and the Decree Law No. 375, which also includes the regulation on the Aged at Retirement (EYT), whose work is carried out by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, has been submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly.

The regulation will affect 2023 million 2 thousand employees directly and approximately 250 million employees indirectly in 5. The bill submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly consists of four articles. First of all, the age-related barrier regarding EYT will be removed. The issue of age at retirement will be a thing of the past as of the date of entry into force of the law. Every employee who can extend the insurance period before September 8, 1999, including September 9, 1999, according to the current legislation, can now retire regardless of age.

Social Security Support Premium will be introduced in order to support the working life and to ensure that this continues in the record, the growth of production, exports, the economy, and the benefits of workers, employers and workplaces. If each employee deserves retirement and does not start working again in the same workplace within ten days after retirement, the Treasury will undertake to support approximately 500 TL within the scope of the law proposal. The state will provide a support premium of 5 percent in this regard.

Regarding the employees who are known as subcontractors and who have been transferred to permanent status, worker status to permanent worker status with the regulation, the regulation regulated in the temporary 375rd and 23th articles of the Decree Law No. 24 for the compulsory termination of the employment contract of the workers if they are entitled to retirement will be abolished. With this offer, employees who are transferred from subcontractor to worker staff who deserve retirement will be able to optionally retire or have the opportunity to work at their workplace. Thus, the compulsory retirement of hundreds of thousands of employees will be eliminated within the scope of the law proposal.

The proposal is expected to be discussed in the Plan Budget Committee this week.
