Kagithane-Istanbul Airport Metro will be put into service on January 22, 2023 with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu said, “We are opening the Kağıthane-Istanbul Airport Metro Line, a unique work of our engineering, on January 22, with the honor of our President.” Mayor Mevlüt Öztekin accompanied Minister Karaismailoğlu, who made examinations at the Kağıthane station of the metro line.
The metro project that Istanbulites have been waiting for has come to an end. Kagithane-Istanbul Airport Line of Gayrettepe-Kagithane-Istanbul Airport Metro opens on January 22, 2023. After the opening, with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the line will become operational. With the opening of the line, it will be possible to reach Istanbul Airport in 24 minutes from Kağıthane. The Gayrettepe-Kağıthane section of the line is planned to be operational in April this year.
Gayrettepe, Kağıthane - Istanbul Airport metro, which connects 37,5 districts on a 4-kilometer route, is able to serve 120 million passengers with its current capacity. The metro, which has a daily capacity of 9 thousand passengers between 600 stations in total, will go 120 kilometers per hour and will be the fastest metro in Turkey.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Karaismailoğlu stated that they have implemented mega projects one by one to make Istanbul one of the cities with the most developed transportation infrastructure in Europe and the world, and that they have invested more than 20 billion liras in Istanbul's transportation and communication infrastructure in the last 284 years. .
President Öztekin invited all Istanbulites to the opening
Expressing that the value of Kağıthane will increase many times with the opening of the metro line, Mayor Mevlüt Öztekin thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his support and investments. Chairman Oztekin; “We are opening our line to service on Sunday, January 22nd. It will bring great convenience to the lives of all Istanbulites, especially those of Kağıthane. I invite all our citizens to the opening of the line on this important day.” he said.
