The 5th International Half Marathon, which was included in the Adana Governor's Office 13 January Liberation of Adana celebration program and organized by the Adana Metropolitan Municipality, was run. In his speech before the competition, Adana Governor Süleyman Elban said, “We all know the meaning of January 5 very well. As part of our celebrations for this special day, our traditional marathon is organized. I wish success to our athletes in the competition, which is held in accordance with the meaning and importance of today.”
Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar said, “We are very happy to follow the increase in the number of athletes participating in our marathon every year. This year, we have 2500 competitors with record participation. Our 1700 athletes came from other provinces. There are 130 foreign athletes participating. In terms of the number of foreign athletes, this year the participation is higher than in previous years. This year is the 101st anniversary of the establishment of Adana and this year is the 100th Anniversary of our Republic.”
Mentioning what the heroes who fought valiantly in the liberation of Adana did, President Zeydan Karalar said that Adana and Turkey will remain independent forever and the Republic of Turkey will stand tall. After the speeches, the Independence Half Marathon was started. Athletes from all over Turkey and abroad competed in the marathon. We are organizing the 13th run this year, on the 100th anniversary of the foundation of our Republic, with the slogan "First Run of the Second Century".
After Istanbul, Turkey's most comprehensive half marathon organization was held.
21 running organizations were held together as 10 km half marathon, 10 km (5 K) run, Children's Run, Hurdle Run and Public Run. The 21 km route of the Half Marathon consisted of historical touristic and must-see places in Adana.
This year the record was broken and 2500 runners were registered.
After the race, a total of 180 TL prizes are distributed to 389.250,00 athletes.
79 referees took part in the organization.
On Saturday, January 7, in the chip distribution area, various gifts were given to the athletes such as t-shirts, bags, medals, hats, sweat bracelets, towels, fruits, turnips, protein bars, magnets. . Pasta and soup treats were also provided for the athletes.
As in previous years, warm-up-cooling physiotherapy areas, water, fruit and soda stands were set up for the athletes on the track. Again, music and applause points were created on the track.
Organizations such as LÖSEV, Turkish Education Foundation, Güney Education Foundation also organized aid campaigns in the organization.
