It was decided that an EIA is not required for the Alikahya Tramway Project, which is planned to be constructed by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality.

Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality has prepared a project for a new tram line in Izmit. In addition to the existing tram lines, the "Alikahya Tram Line Project" will now be implemented. According to the prepared project, the tram line, which will be 4 thousand meters long, will start from the bus station warehouse area and end on Independence Street before reaching the Kocaeli stadium. The line will consist of 6 stops in total.

It was decided that "EIA is not required" regarding the Alikahya Tram line, whose project cost was announced to be 400 million TL. It is expected that the relevant Metropolitan Municipality will initiate the tender process.

Alikahya Tram Route

The Alikahya Tram line, which starts from the bus station warehouse area, will continue on Beyaz Gül Sokak, Binnur Street, Akyazı Street and reach Sultan Murat Street. The first stop of the route, which runs parallel to the Anatolian Highway along this street, will be at the intersection of Fener Street and Sultan Murat Street. From Sultan Murat Street, under the Anatolian highway (passing the existing underpass), Fatma Seher Hanım Street will be reached. The second stop will be at the intersection of Fatma Seher Hanım Street and İbni Sina Street. It will continue on Fatma Seher Hanım Street and turn towards Sakıp Sabancı Boulevard on the same street. The 1rd stop will be on Sakıp Sabancı Street at the intersection with Fenerli Street, and the 2th stop will be on Sakıp Sabancı Street at the intersection with Nar Çiçeği Street. The 3th stop on the route from Sakıp Sabancı Boulevard to Independence Avenue will be at the intersection of Yunus Emre Street on Independence Avenue and the route will be completed with the 4th and last stop at the end of Independence Avenue.
