At Şanlıurfa Mehmet Akif İnan Training and Research Hospital, heart valve diseases are treated with the balloon method, without the need for open heart surgery, thanks to experienced cardiologists.
Şanlıurfa Mehmet Akif İnan Training and Research Hospital Chief Physician Cardiology Specialist Assoc. Dr. Bedri Caner Kaya made a statement and said, “Rheumatic valve disease, which constitutes an important part of heart valve diseases, continues to be important today. It is a disease seen in advancing ages as a result of narrowing of the lid due to calcifications on the lid after febrile diseases in childhood. Yesterday, we applied mitral balloon procedure to 3 of our patients after rheumatic valve disease in our hospital. Mitral balloon procedure was not performed in our city in previous years. We have achieved very good results by successfully applying this procedure to nearly 2 patients for about 100 years. In this sense, we are trying to do all the heart diseases as much as we can in order to end the foreign dependency of our patients.
The patient Meral Esmeroğlu, who said that she was happy to regain her health, said, “I was suffering from extreme shortness of breath due to my heart disease, I was constantly tired. I visited many hospitals, the last time I came to Mehmet Akif İnan Training and Research Hospital. When our doctor said let's do the surgery right away, I accepted. We had the surgery, thank God, I'm better now," he said.
