“Communiqué on Supporting Small-Scale Fisheries” of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry was published in the Official Gazette and entered into force.
According to the statement made by the Ministry, the Small-Scale Fishing Support Communiqué was published in the Official Gazette dated 13 January 2023 for the realization of the support payment to the small-scale fishermen who carry out fishing activities in the sea and inland waters.
In this support, which includes all fishing boats fishing in the seas below 12 meters and in inland waters, unit support amounts according to ship lengths were increased by 240 to 314% compared to last year. Unit support amounts have been adjusted to be minimum 3 thousand 500 TL and maximum 6 thousand TL.
In addition, this year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry General Directorate of Fisheries and Fisheries implemented an additional 25 percent support for female fishermen who own or partner with a fishing vessel, with the motto "Fishing will be touched by a woman's hand".
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, which has continued its efforts to support and ensure the sustainability of the "small-scale fisheries" sector, will continue to implement the policies needed by the sector.
The calendar regarding the support payments to be made to the fishermen will be shared with the sector stakeholders by the General Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture and the Provincial Directorates of Agriculture and Forestry through the website, social media and media organs.
