Derya Yanık, Minister of Family and Social Services, announced that applications have started for Glucometer Aid, which was implemented for children diagnosed with TYP-1 diabetes in social assistance beneficiary households.
Minister Yanık stated that it is important for diabetics to have a normal blood sugar level, and in this context, they have implemented the Glucometer Assistance to improve the quality of life of children with diabetes in social assistance beneficiary households.
Minister Yanık stated that they will provide a maximum of two years' supply of subcutaneous glucose meters and sensors for children diagnosed with TYP-1 diabetes.
Informing that applications for Glucometer Aid will be made to Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations, Minister Yanık said:
“In order to deliver our support to our children quickly and effectively, we conducted field studies with the Ministry of Health, 81 Provincial Governorships, Social Security Institution and Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations, and after the data we obtained, we determined the framework of our program. In this context, we started the applications for our Glucometer Assistance for our children diagnosed with TYP-1 diabetes in social assistance beneficiary households.
Stating that some of the needs such as drugs, insulin, glucometer sticks and devices that people with a diagnosis of diabetes should use are met by the Social Security Institution based on the reports of the relevant physicians without considering the neediness criteria, Minister Yanık said: We will help our children with a diagnosis of diabetes mellitus," he said.
Underlining that they continue the social assistance program under 50 headings so that citizens in need can meet their basic needs, Minister Yanık underlined that they also put the demands of the citizens on their agenda.
