While the excavations started in 2023 in the historical Urfa Castle in Şanlıurfa, which was selected as the 2018 Islamic World Tourism Capital by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, a walking path was built in the excavation area so that local and foreign guests who will visit the city can visit the city without damaging the historical texture and findings.

Excavations in the ruins of Şanlıurfa, which has hosted many civilizations with its history and culture, continue uninterruptedly. Şanlıurfa managed to attract the attention of the world with the excavations started in Karahantepe and the Historical Urfa Castle after Göbeklitepe.

In order to accelerate the excavation work carried out under the coordination of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in cooperation with Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality, Şanlıurfa Governorship, spider cranes were started to be used with the instructions of Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeynel Abidin Beyazgül and the work in the area gained speed.

In order not to damage the historical findings and ground in the area, Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality placed floors that prioritize the protection of historical areas, including a walking path and photo shooting area, with the support of stakeholder institutions.

With the completion of the works, the excavation works in the Historical Urfa Castle in the Halil-ür Rahman Region will not be interrupted to see the historical and natural beauties of Şanlıurfa, and the visitors who come to the city will be able to make their trips and examinations more easily.

Şanlıurfa, which is visited by hundreds of thousands of local and foreign tourists every year with its natural beauties, gastronomy and music, will host local and foreign guests from Islamic countries and all over the world in 2023.
