After the decision of the Ministry of National Education to provide one free meal to 5 million students, a preparatory meeting was held with the participation of 81 provincial administrators. The Ministry of National Education had decided to reach 1.8 million students gradually, starting from the second semester of the 2022-2023 academic year, with the free meal service that 5 million students benefit from.

In this context, on February 6, 2023, the start of the second semester, 5 million students, primarily all children attending pre-school education, will be gradually given a free meal of nutrition.

A meeting was held at the Ministry today under the chairmanship of Sadri Şensoy, Deputy Minister of National Education, in order to discuss the implementation details. The meeting was held with the participation of the relevant general managers, heads of departments, 81 provincial national education directors and provincial branch managers responsible for basic education and support services.

At the meeting where the preparatory work was reviewed, the Ministry determined on a school basis how nutrition should be given to each kindergarten and nursery class, in line with the data from the provinces. School-based lists were sent to all provinces and provinces were asked to make final checks and to notify needs, if any, with suggestions for changes.

Deputy Minister Şensoy stated that on February 6, 2023, the preparations for providing nutrition to all pre-school children were completed by the Ministry, provincial and district national education directorates and school directorates, and that the free nutrition program would be implemented without any problems.
